Student Project
UX Design, UI Design, User Centred Design
This project is aimed for people with Idiopathic Intercranial Hypertension (IIH), who have ongoing symptoms which cause distress and or health related anxiety.
IIH Circle is a native mobile app and companion desktop app, that allows patients to efficiently track their symptoms, learn from their previous pain points, connect with other patients, and access related information to their symptoms. Unlike other generic health symptom trackers this app will be bespoke to IIH, aiming to help users deal with their difficult condition, and feel a sense of solidarity from other patients in their struggle.
To ensure good usability I used SUS survey testing.
Background
IIH is a rare condition that effect 1/100,000 in which excess fluid is built up around the spine and brain which causes severe headaches and sometimes vision changes. This severe pain can be an extreme hindrance on everyday life, and additionally users

Reflection
At the start of this project I set out to create a prototype mobile and desktop companion site to help patients with Idiopathic Inter-cranial Hypertension deal with their difficult condition.
Through extensive research including interviews, affinity mapping, creating user personas and user journey mapping I was able to confidently hone in on specific issues and pain points which my app could address. I then sketched and wireframed solutions which aimed to solve those identified problems. Taking these sketches solutions I created mid fidelity prototype, which allowed me to test my solution. Doing this user testing identified issues in my solution which I then went back and fixed, before continueing
onto the high fidelity prototype.
I then conducted research into how I could meet my user group needs through my UI decisions, and created a prototype accordingly.
Throughout this entire process I have been backed by research, user testing, iterative experiments in improving the efficiency of features, and more research. Because of this string backing throughout the process I am confident my final prototype not only has achieved what I set out to do – create a prototype mobile and desktop companion site to
help patients with IIH deal with their difficult condition, – but also my solution is a highly successful one at that. Through the efficient symptom tracking users can outlet their pain, before crucially receiving insights on their actions and symptoms. Additionally users can access the wider community through blogs and associated discussion, and access research and readings about IIH. Through this combination of features I believe IIH Circle successfully achieves its goal of being an all encompassing IIH management app and site.
